The Item Physics mod changes how items behave when dropped on the ground. In vanilla Minecraft, items are supposed to float above the ground, but that's not how physics works in the real world. This mod makes items lie flat on the surface, making them easier to identify and allowing you to pick up only what you need.

To pick up items from the ground, you need to tap on them, which adds an extra step. Another side effect of these changes is how items behave in liquids. Some items, like Shields, are buoyant and therefore float on the surface of the water. Items that don't burn, such as Netherite items, will float in lava.
I'm a big fan of realism, so the Item Physics mod ticks all the boxes for me.
